20 Scriptures That Reveal How Much GOD Loves You
By Shaun Shuler
We’ve almost been conditioned to believe that GOD is an angry GOD who is always displeased with us because of the mistakes we continually make. Yes, He will correct us just like parents that correct or discipline their children (Proverbs 3:12), but that doesn’t mean He hates us.
The devil knows that when we do something that goes against GOD’s standards (sin), that it causes a serious issue between us and GOD. Therefore, the devil will tempt and lie to us that the “act” is ok to do, that no one will find out, and no one will really get hurt. He twists the truth that makes us question what GOD says about sin. Then once we commit that sin, the devil will throw it in our face and fill us with shame and condemnation. This was exactly how the devil enticed Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. After they ate the fruit that GOD specifically told them to stay away from, Adam and Eve then tried to hide from GOD (Genesis chapter 3).
GOD disciplined them, He did not disown them. He was not pleased they disobeyed, but that did not mean He stopped loving them. In fact, despite the sin, He still loved them so much that He made a way for redemption and had a plan for their lives.
So what is love?
Merriam-Webster defines love as:
strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties.
attraction based on sexual desire: affection and tenderness felt by lovers.
affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests.
Now, let us see how the Bible defines love:
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails…”
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
This is the kind of love GOD has for us!
If you have been told or think you are unlovable, a loser, or worthless because of past mistakes or failures, please understand these three facts:
#1-Those thoughts are lies coming from the devil.
#2-You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14), and GOD knows the number of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7) - therefore, you are THAT special to the One who created you.
#3 - GOD loves you so very much, that He will meet you where you are, all you have to do is turn to Him.
The Bible is not merely a collection of books and stories from the past; it is a collection of GOD’s promises to us. The following 20 scriptures are the definitive truth about GOD’s love for us, starting with the most important scripture in the entire Bible…
