Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.
— Mark Twain

Is there ever a time where anger is a good thing? Yes, it is called righteous anger. Righteous anger is when we get angry at injustice inflicted on the innocent, or attacks that occur against the principles and commandments of GOD.

This type of anger was manifested by JESUS in John 2:13-22 when He overturned the tables of the money changers due to the corruption they were partaking in at the temple. So based on this example, JESUS’ anger was not sin because He had the authority as GOD to confront the ones getting rich by taking advantage of people, especially in His temple.

But the anger I want to focus on and is the most common: selfish anger.

Politics, sports, getting cut off in traffic, food orders made wrong, people insulting us or attacking our beliefs; these can anger us because some of the attacks are unfounded, or things aren’t happening the way we want or expect.

Our anger at times can even be directed towards ourselves or at GOD, but it is still centered around us not accomplishing or getting what we want or think we deserve.

Physically, if we stay in a constant state of anger it can cause negative health effects like depression, high blood pressure, headaches, digestive issues, fatigue, and may eventually lead to stroke or heart attacks. Anger will also negatively impact our relationships with family and friends, our jobs, and our freedom if the anger leads us to commit violence.

Everyone has an opinion about anger, but let’s look at what the Bible says.
