Papa Shaun’s Corner: Reviewing the 1st 30 Days

By Shaun Shuler

Deciding to launch a website seemed too daunting of a task, when the thought 1st crossed my mind. I have never had a problem expressing my thoughts, feelings, and opinions about any topic, but I am not very tech-savvy. After doing research, asking for advice on platforms to use, praying about it and talking it over with the wife, here we are 30 days into this adventure.

Keeping track and knowing the quantity of visitors, pageviews, and different places throughout the world this website reaches is extremely cool and fun for me, but that isn’t the most important goal. The whole point of this website is to help and encourage at least one person who maybe struggling with any issues using the truth found in the Bible and through my experiences. Maybe I never write anything life changing for someone, but if something I share plants the littlest seed in someone’s heart, that may one day develop into a life changing moment for them, then all of this will be worth it.

With all that said, this will be a review of the last 30 days of milestones and insights I have on Papa Shaun’s Corner.

Total Unique Visitors

Without visitors to any website, do you really have a website? Like I said above, the main goal for me is to hopefully help someone through these articles I write. However, the more people that visit this site, the greater the opportunity to encounter that struggling soul that is out there looking for answers to their issues or who is wondering if they are alone in those difficult circumstances they are facing.

As of 3-28-2020, Papa Shaun’s Corner has hit 2,478 unique visitors in the 1st month! A unique visitor is basically a person visiting the site one time during a 2-year period. This means that 2,478 different IP addresses have clicked on this site in the last month.

It is very humbling to me to see this much traffic this soon. I thank you all who have visited so far, and I hope you will continue to come back.

Reactions From The visitors

Like or Dislike

Having 4,402 pageviews from over 2,000 people that has visited this site in 30 days is quite a blessing.
Now, what about those reactions, are they positive or negative?

There have been some negative responses.

On Twitter, someone responded to the article Frightened Over the Coronavirus? Here are 12 Scriptures to Use to Fight Against Your Fears, with the comment,

March 14, 2020

“lol, talk about useless.”

Also on the same article, but through Facebook there was a 😡 from a young lady living in Paraguay.

On the article A World in Coronavirus Chaos: 20 Scriptures to Give Us Hope, a Frenchman that is currently in the Philippines replied with:

March 28, 2020

“Demeurés…”

Facebook translates it as idiots, but since Facebook isn’t always reliable, I looked up the definition online. It can mean residence but when used as an offensive term it means backward person or a person with a mental handicapped, idiot, or a stupid person.

When speaking the truth of GOD and His Word, some will reject it and cast insults, comes with the territory.

Of all the international visitors there was only one “I don’t speak English” from a lady in Venezuela:

March 25, 2020

“No habló inglés, me interesa saber.”

Overwhelmingly, the responses have been very positive. A lot of “Amen” “Glory to GOD” and “I love it” but also

March 2, 2020

“This was Beautiful”

March 4, 2020

“Well written…”

March 4, 2020

“Good Job!!!”

March 16, 2020

“Shout-out for such inspiring words…”

One comment I thought was neat was from another woman from Paraguay commenting about the coronavirus with:

March 14, 2020

🇵🇾🙏🏻🇵🇾🙏🏻🇵🇾
”COMUNICADO PARA TODOS LOS CRISTIANOS : ESTA NOCHE TODAS LAS FAMILIAS NOS PONDREMOS A ORAR A LAS 23;00, CADA FAMILIA EN SU HOGAR, PIDIENDO AYUDA AL ÚNICO QUE TIENE SOLUCION CONTRA ESTA PLAGA QUE HAY, POR FAVOR UNETE Y PASALO POR TODOS LOS GRUPOS”
🙏🏻🙏🏻

Translation: “Communicated to all Christians: tonight, all families will pray at 23:00, each family in their home, asking for help to the only One who has a solution against this plague that exists, please join and pass it on to all the groups”

With 1,472 views, this article blows away all the other articles that have been posted so far. In part, it is due to it being about the #1 world-wide topic in the news today and also with many stuck at home per government orders, people have a lot of time on their hands. This isn’t the best article posted (in my opinion) but it is the most popular. I figured, what better way to calm the fears and panic in people’s hearts than with some scripture from GOD’s Word.

The Philippines 🇵🇭 is #1 with 883 visits!!!

One would think that a US based website would have the most views from the US, but no it is my wife’s homeland, the Philippines that takes this honor at the 30-day mark. In fact, the Philippines surpassed the US (745 visits now) on Friday 3-27-20 which was on day 29!

Salamat po to all of those residing in the Philippines that have taken the time to visit Papa Shaun’s Corner.. And a special Salamat po, to my wife and her family and friends for helping share and promote the articles!!!

Having a strong presence in the Philippines and the US is not too surprising, but the number of visits from India, which is 80% Hindu, and Pakistan, which is 96% Islamic is surprising and awesome.

Hola to South America who has 3 countries in the top 10 in visits and over 200 total visits as a continent.

There are 195 countries in the world and according to the United Nations when including territories, the number is 251. In the 1st 30 days we have been visited by 123 countries and territories. From the 2nd most populated country India 🇮🇳 (1.3 billion people), to one of the smallest territories the Falkland Islands 🇫🇰 (2,800 people).

It is weird for me to think that from our little home in Lake Charles, LA. we have reached Iraq 🇮🇶, Afghanistan 🇦🇫, Zimbabwe 🇿🇼, Azerbaijan 🇦🇿, and so much more.

The 100th country to visit our site was Libya 🇱🇾. This is a country that is currently in an ongoing civil war that started in 2011. It is amazing to me that someone took the time during all of this civil unrest to visit our site.

All of these places around the world that have checked out the site is a testament to the technological advances of our day and age, but more so, it is a testament to GOD’s ability to accomplish great things through us if we trust Him.
