The list of things people become terrified of is a mile long. Many of us laugh at a lot of these, but to the ones suffering from these massive fears, it’s no laughing matter.

Many phobias are specific phobias and those have 4 categories: environmental, situational, animal, and medical. Specific phobias can cause a highly emotional response when the object or situation arises or could trigger a response just by thinking about the object or situation.

Below are 10 Surprisingly Unique Phobias People Have (Part 2):

Trypophobia

Fear of small clusters of holes

Fear of small clusters of holes or bumps. People with this fear experience extreme discomfort from looking at things like insect eyes, honeycombs, and strawberries.

Vestiophobia

fear of wearing clothes

Fear of wearing clothing. Someone with this usually has issues with tight clothing and a feeling of being trapped. They may wear very loose-fitting clothes or could explain the reason some decide to participate in nudist colonies.

May also include someone with really sensitive skin and who may breakout in rashes from wearing certain materials.

Podophobia

fear of feet

Fear of feet. People with this tend to stress over the site of other people’s feet or even their own feet. This one is up there for me as one of my top phobias. It may have started when I was a kid when seeing my great aunt’s disfigured feet from her rheumatoid arthritis.

Regardless of where it started, the idea of feet simply disgust me. I see feet and I assume they smell and are full of germs. No way I could ever be a Podiatrist.

hastenburaphobia

fear of grass

Fear of grass. This is usually found in children and can be a result of being bit by bugs while walking barefoot or being injured in some way in the grass. In some extreme cases those afflicted with this will even avoid walking on grass even when they have shoes on.

Eisoptrophobia

fear of mirrors

Fear of mirrors. This very rare phobia is usually based on someone’s superstitious beliefs. A person could be afraid of their own reflection or scared that some dark supernatural force could harm them.

Heliophobia

fear of sunlight

Fear of sunlight. This is usually from suffering a really bad sunburn as a child or experiencing some type of trauma outside during the day and associating pain with bright light.

Also the universal fear for vampires 🧛‍♂️.

Didaskaleinophobia

fear of going to school

Fear of going to school. This could be from a result of being bullied. Different from kids simply not wanting to go to school, this phobia results in a terror-stricken reaction and may also be tied to separation anxiety.

Masklophobia

fear of mascots

Fear of mascots, people in masks, and especially someone in a full-bodied costumes. Whether it’s people dressed up as superheroes along the Las Vegas strip or cartoon characters in Times Square, this is another phobia I personally have. Some may cry, have a panic attack, or start sweating profusely, my reaction is to simply to run the opposite direction.

I don’t know who is inside that outfit and it is so creepy to me.

Chronophobia

fear of time

Fear of time. Commonly found with prison inmates as they serve their sentences and the elderly who are worried that their death could be imminent. This can also happen to anyone who is in a job centered around meeting deadlines.

Ailurophobia

fear of cats

Fear of cats. A panic that could be triggered by seeing a cat or even thinking about a cat. Like most animal phobias, this could be normal in people who have been attacked by a cat in childhood.

Chances are if you have a huge ego and a desire to conquer the world you may have ailurophobia. “Why?” you may ask.

Notable ailurophobes: Hitler, Mussolini, and Napoleon Bonaparte.
